High School Registration

What is the registration process?
Registration begins on July 1st and usually ends in January. The current registration process can be found here.

How much does it cost to register for the high school soccer season?
Referees must pat a $30 membership fee paid directly to Capital Referees and $100 to the Texas Association of Sports Officials (TASO). An assigning fee deposit is also required before the start of the season, paid directly to the assigner.

What are the requirements for new high school referees?
New members must be 16 years of age and must complete the registration process. Additionally, only referees that no longer attend high school can referee high school soccer. Referees still attending high school are eligible for middle school matches. New members must complete a USSF Entry Level Clinic.

Does my USSF or NISOA registration allow me to referee high school soccer?
No. High School registration is completely independent of USSF and NISOA.

Assignments

What time of the year is the season?
Matches are played August through May, but the most matches are played January through April.

What days of the week are matches played?
Matches are played most nights of the week, but especially Tuesday and Friday nights. There are never matches on Sunday.

How will the assigner know when I'm available and how far can I travel?
Capital Referees utilizes ArbiterSports, an assigning software, that allows officials to input blocks for time of day, travel distance, and other potential conflicts.

Assigner Fees

What are assigning fees?
Officials pay a small fee for each match they are assigned to officiate. Referees pay these fees directly to the assigner. A $100 deposit is due prior to the start of the season.

How much are assigning fees?

$5 for a referee, dual, or single center assignment and $4 for an assistant referee assignment.

How is the assigner and how to do I contact him?

Pete Adams is the Assigner for all Capital Referees matches. His contact information is listed here.

How do I pay my assigner fees?
Assigner fees can be paid directly to the assigner. More information can be found here

Why don't I pay assigner fees for other matches?

In most leagues, the league pays the assigner directly to assign matches. However, interscholastic soccer is unique in that schools do not pay for an assigner. Rather, referees pay the assigner directly.
